Alumni Library Cards + Access
University of Alberta Alumni are eligible for the following cards:
1. ALUMNIcard - - free for first card (received in your graduation package).
After obtaining your card from the ONEcard Office, bring it to any library service desk to be registered for library privileges.
- Membership term: 5 years
- Item limit: 30 borrowed at one time
- Interlibrary Loan service at no cost
2. External Borrower Card - free
3. The Alberta Library (TAL) - free
eResources for Alumni
Alumni may register for free, off-campus access to a suite of select databases that include collections of academic journals, ebooks, trade publications, and more. For access to databases that are not included in this package, Alumni may visit a library service desk to obtain a temporary (daily) Library Network Access ID to use while on campus. You will be asked to present your ALUMNIcard or photo ID (eg. a driver's license).
With the exception of the databases in the Alumni eResources package, off-campus access to our licensed online resources is limited to current students, faculty, and staff.
Library Email Notifications
Courtesy email reminders are sent to the email address you provided the U of A Library for:
- Due date reminder (3 days before, and on the due date)
- Overdue items reminder (at 2 days overdue and at 7 days overdue)
- 31 days overdue (becomes a Lost Item Charge, default $150/item)
- Recalled item: 7 days to return it
- Hold ready for pick-up
- Monthly summary of fines owed

Library Privileges & Responsibilities
Use of the University of Alberta Library is a privilege with associated responsibilities for all clients. Within the parameters of the policies, no user should be unduly disadvantaged through the use or abuse of the library by another client, whatever the client group.
