Steps to recommend a purchase:

  1. Search our catalogue to ensure we do not already have the item you are requesting.
  2. Complete the Recommend a Purchase Form (you may be prompted to enter your CCID.)
  3. The Library's Collection Strategies Unit will consider your request(s).
  4. You will be notified when the item arrives (if you request notification) or if we are unable to acquire the item.

Submit your Recommendation

As stated in our Collection Policy, the Library will acquire material in electronic format where available.

Please be advised that delivery of print books (ordered if no ebook is available) often takes 4-6 weeks or longer, depending on availability and vendor location.

Broaden our Bookshelf

What voices are missing from our collection?

The U of A Library's Broaden our Bookshelf initiative seeks to add a wider diversity of voices, experiences and stories to our collection, and in particular, those from marginalized or underrepresented communities. To support this initiative, we need your input.

If you know of an item that meets this description and you were not able to find it when you searched our catalogue, please submit your recommendation through the Recommend a Purchase form.

NOTE: Ensure you select Broaden our Bookshelf as the reason for your request.
