Microfilm - Microfiche - Microcard


UARCRF Micro Requests (Microform/Newspapers)

  • Newspaper items need additional publication information (e.g., year, specific date, section, article title, etc.) for us to retrieve the item you need.
  • Please use the RCRF Microform/Newspaper Request Form
  • Service Standard: Available for pickup within two to three work days (Monday through Friday) at your selected pickup location.

Micro Scanners Locations

Rutherford North, First Floor

  • ViewScan4 (2 stations), fiche, microfilm, microcards
  • Save as PDF, multi-page PDF, and more.Email results, save to flash drive, cloud, ONEcard printing

Augustana Campus Library

  • Scanpro 3000 for fiche, microfilm
  • Save as PDF, multi-page PDF, and more.Email results, save to flash drive, cloud, ONEcard printing

UA Bibliothèques Saint-Jean (BSJ)

  • Older microfilm/fiche reader printer. Prints are poor quality and you cannot save files as PDF.
  • 15 cents/page

Robotics

Guide to Robotics and Computational Thinking at Rutherford

Borrowing Privileges

  • The robotics and related kits may be borrowed by University of Alberta students, staff, and faculty only.
  • The kits must be returned to the owning library's service desk.
  • Loan period is 1 week.
  • $1/hour per overdue item.
  • No renewals.
  • No holds.
  • Damaged items will be assessed to determine what fees will apply.
  • Replacement charges will be applied in place of the $150 lost charge that is indicated in your library account.
  • Borrowers are subject to the University of Alberta Libraries borrowing policies.

The Library no longer lends laptops. The Dean of Students has a limited number of chromebooks & laptops available for students in need.

Fax Machines

The U of A Library does not offer fax services. Public fax machines are located at:

  • Varsity Health/Stationary in HUB Mall (#39, just across from Rutherford Library). Open evenings and weekends.
  • SUBprint in the Student's Union Building basement. Open Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.
  • Canada Post Office, Shopper's Drug Mart located at 8210 109 street (off-campus). Open evenings and weekends.

SMART Boards

SMART Boards are available for use in the following library: Bibliothèque Saint-Jean. To reserve a study space with a SMART Board, book the appropriate room using the online reservation system.

Bibliothèque Saint-Jean

1-12E: capacity of up to 12 people. SMART Board pens, keyboard and mouse are available at the service desk.

Listening and viewing equipment

Rutherford Library (HSS)

Listening and viewing equipment are available in Rutherford Library, on the 2nd floor in the Micromaterials Reading Room 2-116. The following equipment is not bookable and does not circulate:

  • 1 LP player
  • 1 cassette deck
  • 1 CD player
  • 1 VHS player/TV
  • 1 all region DVD/Blu-Ray player/TV
