In addition to acquiring archival records created by the institution, the archives also accepts private donations of materials from individuals and organizations affiliated with the University of Alberta.

Transfer University Records to the Archives

archives shelves

Records created by staff of the university in the course of their job duties are the property of the University of Alberta and subject to the University Records Management Policy. University records that have enduring, archival value must be transferred to the University Archives when no longer required for day-today operations. For more information about the types of information we acquire and how to transfer university records to the archives, please consult the transfer university records document or contact us at archives@ualberta.ca.

Donate Archival Materials

Non-university records from individuals or groups affiliated with the University of Alberta may be donated to the University Archives. Ownership of private records is transferred to the archives via donor agreements and donors may be eligible for a charitable tax receipt upon request. The archives considers donations of records that enhance research and teaching from faculty, university clubs and organizations, alumni and others. For more information about the types of private records we acquire, please consult the donate archival materials document or contact us at archives@ualberta.ca.
