The University of Alberta Library's user community is divided into three client groups:
- Primary - University of Alberta students, faculty (current and retired), and staff (current and retired)
- Partnership
NEOS
individuals who form the primary client group of NEOS member libraries. NEOS is a consortium of central Alberta libraries which provides information about its collective resources through an on-line catalogue called The NEOS Libraries Catalogue.TAL
individuals who belong to The Alberta Library BookCard programCOPPul/OCul/CAul/CREPUQ
students, faculty and staff of The Council of Prairie and Pacific University Libraries (COPPul), the Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCul), The Council of Atlantic University Libraries (CAul), and La Conference des Recteurs et des Principaux des Universities du Quebec (CREPUQ).
- External - all others.
Use of the University Library is a privilege with associated responsibilities for all clients. Within the parameters of the policies, no user should be unduly disadvantaged through the use or abuse of the library by another client, whatever client group.
